The Clinical Advisory Council (CAC) was formally established by the General Manager under the Act and is comprised of senior specialists from the disciplines of haematology, intensive care medicine, epidemiology, immunology, pathology and clinical change; with most members holding senior government and/or academic posts. The Council is chaired by Professor Richard Smallwood. The CAC specifically advises the NBA’s Blood Counts program, ensuring projects and initiatives undertaken by the NBA are clinically relevant. Although the CAC was only recently formed, it is expected to play a significant role in guiding the Blood Counts program over the coming five years.
